We have yet another winner amongst our ranks

On Sunday 29th June the club attended a very nice show held at the Franks Motor Company Colchester, the show had some wonderful machines on display from the 1900s to the early 2000s all of the entries were prize worthy but we are delighted to announce that the winner for BEST PRE 60s vehicle on display went to our member Len James and his 1949 Riley RM.

The Clacton express preservation group had a very nice right up in Mondays Colchester Gazette on the restoration progress of the 309, mentioned in the article was the donation given the club. We have to say well done to Brad and his team for the work carried out and a big thank you to everyone concerned in helping raise the funds towards the project.

“The project has taken six months and has been possible thanks to the funding effort by the Clacton Express preservation
group (CEPG) and Clacton Classic Car Club, who donated £1500 towards replacement windows.”

It is with regret that we have to say goodbye to another dear friend this week

RIP VIC, you will be sadly missed by everyone.

With the sad news of the passing last week of our friend and member Vic Smith our condolences go out to his family.

The funeral will take place on Friday 7th March at 11am at the Tendring Church, 1 The Street Tendring CO16 0BN.

A wake will follow at the Robert Burr, 183 Burrs Road, Clacton. CO15 4LH for those wishing to attend.

Come on don’t be shy

As this year’s term of service for committee members is coming to a close, we are looking for new members to join us. The club has been very successful since COVID with our events we attend and run. we are excited to find the next crop of members who can continue bringing good ideas to the group!

With the Annual General Meeting taking place on the 26th February 2025 now is the time to get involved, the future of the club depends on YOU.

RIP Dear friend

A sad start to 2025 with the very sad news that we had lost a friend and long time member Brian Chilvers who had passed away on the 20th December. Brian’s family thank everyone that attended his funeral on the 8th January.

RIP Brian, you will be sadly missed by all.

What an achievement.

2025 will see Clacton Classic Car club celebrate its 20th anniversary, it seems only yesterday we celebrated our 10th anniversary, doesn’t time fly when you are enjoying yourself.

10 year old cake anyone? thought not, think we might need a fresh one.

Progress report on the 309 EMU

Back in September the club made a donation to help start the restoration of the 309 Clacton Coastal Express and we are pleased to be able to update you all on the progress which has been made by Brad and his team. The ongoing restoration will hopefully be completed by early 2025, to thank the club for its kind donation we have been invited to the VIP launch party

Getting the entire vehicle completely stripped back to metal, primed and then painted; Repairs to one of the door pillars; The complete rebuilding of one of the doors; further repairs and work to the interior and finally the delivery of the first bit of new glass last week. This has been successfully fitted to the frame and then remounted into the bodyside. This marks another major milestone for the vehicle being the first vandalised window fully repaired. Thanks to all concerned Brad Wright
